First time being in an earthquake. It happened just about 5 mins ago at National Research Canada in Ottawa. It was probably felt else where though. But it was small. Updated.
Really small.
I felt the floor shake and I heard the sounds of glassware in the lab shake and bump into each other. We followed procedures to evacuate the building through the closest exit. Waited outside until we were told it was safe to go back in.
This was nothing compared to the earthquake simulator I was in during my trip in Japan. But over there, we were strapped to our seats.
Atleast I can call it a memory of experiencing an earthquake.
Update: I got an email from my mother living in Toronto, she had also felt an earthquake. And on the news, it was recorded as 5.5. Ohhh scary stuff.
