Writing on the go: Nikada Japanese Restaurant Review

Currently, I am eating lunch at the Nikada Japanese Restaurant (all you can eat). And I am going to tell you how I thought about it.

It is at the intersection of Kennedy and McNicoll.

Good:
- Presentation; well dressed, clean floors, nice decorations
- Enjoyed; spicy salmon sushi, spicy tuna sushi, fire ball, squid tempura

Neutral:
- Price
- Selection; no unique dishes
- Quality; majority of dishes tastes average

Bad:
- Limited Choices; no shrimp tempura for lunch
- Slow service; I hope you're ready to wait
- Their chicken teriyaki was rough and slightly burnt

Conclusion:
Average restaurant for all you can eat Japanese food. I would recommend this place for convenience. A better restaurant would be at the plaza at Denison and Kennedy.

3. Have a good time

Hopefully I will be able to spend some time with some friends aside from just family.

Updated Links

I recently purchased from another online vendor, Amiami, so I updated the links section to include it as a trusted retailer. The item I purchased was a PVC figure of Flandre Scarlet from Touhou, manufactured by Griffon Enterprises.

I can't say anything about it since its at home and I'm living away from home. I may be able to get a review in a few weeks.

But I was quite surprised at Amiami's delivery speed. It was QUICK. I mean it. Much faster than other vendors I've dealt with. Facepalm to Janelee922 (NSFW). On that note, Janelee922 also have an ebay account. He sells from there also. But the shipping was SLOW, its good that shipping charges were free though.

Also, Amiami is having a sale right now. After shipping and stuff, it turned out to be $74.78 CDN. The strange thing about Amiami however I found was that, you had to send them money through paypal. Normally, at other vendors, I would give them my paypal account and they would take money from there. Charging the cost to my linked credit card. But in this case, paypal took out money from my savings account to pay. Doesn't matter much for me, but for other people who didn't like their bank accounts to paypal, I'm not sure if Amiami will work for you.

CreativeLive? What is it?

I found something interesting while looking on Gizmodo today.
CreativeLive. What is it?

Well lets start here, were there ever been a topic you wish you knew? But signing up for a class takes too much money and time so you gave up trying to learn it? There is a solution for that. CreativeLive!

It is basically an online streaming service which trained professionals teaches various topics. For FREE ! The environment is like a classroom where your computer becomes a desk and the video becomes the professor.

I decided to give it a shot because I wanted to learn something about photoshop, and might as well learn about html5. Afterall, I have to manage my blog. And currently, I don't know any html.

Link: Here.

If I get the chance and follow through with the whole 5 weeks of class (1 class per week), I'll post up a summary of what I felt it was like and if I recommend you to sign up as well.

First time skating (>w<)

On Mar 26, 2010, I went to my first ice rink to fool around on skates. I had previously (about 8 years ago) learned how to ride rollerblades so I thought it would be similar. To my surprise...

The experience was quite different. Although the basic idea of moving was still the same, I could not stop after skating for 2 hours. Sure.. I could slowly stop from the assistance of friction and gravity. But not the kind of stop that would be needed for say if a mine was in front of me.

Balancing myself wasn't that hard, except from the photos I asked someone to take, I looked like I was pissing my pants, then the urine froze and crystalized and I looked like I was trying to hide it. (Don't worry, it didn't happen). I don't look like I am skating at all ! (And I thought I was doing well too =x)

Though, it was a good experience. The rink was quite cold as I needed my jacket, though after playing for a while, I began sweating so I stripped it off. At that point, I didn't once put it back on.

I fell a total of 2 times. Each time because I tried to stop by grinding the ice while I slid to a perpendicular direction in hopes of stopping like one of those pros. But instead I turned 180 degrees instead, lost my balance and fell like a newb. That sucks.

I was with my brother and his 3 friends. They were all novices in ice skating too. Maybe 3-4 times prior to this. There were many people who skated very well at the rink. Some were even small kids.

Business Cards Arrived !

I ordered these via Vistaprint because I got an email from hotmail saying theres was a promotion, 250 free business cards, just pay shipping and handling. I didn't see what there was to lose. Whether people would think the was a joke or not, for a little under 3 dollars. I saw no reason not to make one. So I included a link to the gallery.

Gallery: Here.

Sorry, I had to filter my phone number. Because I don't want random phone calls and text messages from people who just visited my blog. Maybe get to know me, and I'll give you my phone number. Ok? :P

Also, I should mention, I signed up for Google Adsense in hopes of making extra pocket change. So if you see an ad which interests you (this rarely happens though), feel free to click them!

I still haven't verified if this works or not. I shall update later when I receive my first payment from Google.

[Bandai] Unicorn Gundam Review

After a long break on my part, I finally gotten myself together to writing an entry about something that happened about a month ago. The completion of the Unicorn Gundam by Bandai.

Full review below.

I know in the past the reviews (if they were called that was rather sloppy) had very little information, so I will try to fix that. Though, when writing posts like this, I write as I go and I try to think back or look at the product that was formed. Since I didn't take notes when building the model, its likely that some details would have been missed. But on with the review.

First of all, I love this Gundam, not only because its from Universal Centry (UC), but its White.. AND Red! I am also watching the Unicorn Gundam OVAs.

Similar to all the other models I've built thus far, decals were not placed (and for this I have no excuse, its not difficult, but for some reason I chose to neglect it. Sorry). I try my best for all the sticker work (and am proud of it).

The eyes on Unicorn, like all other gundams are done with a green metallic coated sticker. Same with this Unicorn's horns. And that green light on top of the head. Gundams have surprisingly small stickers for small parts. I was quite shocked when I built my 2nd Gundam that I would be pretty good at installing stickers.
The details are as you expect from a Gundam, nothing too outstanding there. Though the design was lovely. When you're building it, the model seems tough (and by all means, it is... until you want to DESTROY).

I would apologize for the lack of pictures, although I enjoy building them, I am discontent for posing them. I have my reasons for doing it. And those reasons were justified in the past.
1. From moving the joints, they become weak and lose the ability to maintain form.
2. They may break.
3. Parts are lost

And especially for the Unicorn, in its Destroy mode, its flimsy at best. Because most of the colour is hidden when its being built (meaning, to expose it, you're litterally expanding the armor, which causes empty space to fill the insides of the model, and empty space = bad support). It results in.
1. Taller model
2. More prone to breaking
3. RED HAWTNESS

Overall, I loved this model, both building it and looking at it. The red definitely defines this Gundam well. Its not Unicorn if theres no red. The colour contrast looks amazing. The arsenal is adequet.

Though on a downside, the transformation is not the easiest thing to do. It may have been just my model kit or maybe the way I built it (though I followed the instructions to the book). My model had a little problem with the transformation of the knee cap. The instructions said I just had to pull and that was it, however, I pulled and pulled and nothing happened. So I opened up the leg (it was surprisingly easy) then set it into the position of the transformed look, then built it back together. The problem was, the pathway for sliding the hinge was too narrow, causing it to jam half-way. A solution could have been to sandpaper or file it, but if you did too much then it would become loose and the effects would have been devastating. My friend who also owned a Unicorn Gundam (but metallic version), also encountered a problem with the kit, different problem than mine, and also fixable. Perhaps we were unlucky, or maybe the quality control for this batch was snoozing.

I took pictures of the previous model, Shinaju with Unicorn because they're from the same series. Which was the main reason why I bought this. Even though, the looks of this Gundam is so good too!
